Allen Edwardes is the pen-name of a writer on Middle Eastern and Oriental erotica. He is best known as the author of the 1959 book, The Jewel in the Lotus, the introduction to which was written by the noted Albert Ellis. The book is almost entirely made up of pseudo-ethnographical sexual curiosities while making a caricature of the sexual life of ethnic groups and giving free reign to all sorts of prejudices.
