Alphabasic Records is an independent record label started in 1999 by electronic musician Benn Jordan (aka The Flashbulb) and Mark Hall. In 2007, Jordan bought out his partners and larger related label Sublight Records, pulled the albums from all record and digital distributors, and uploaded them to torrent sites with a small note explaining his agenda and views on the new era of music distribution. This radical approach surprisingly yielded great success and mainstream press and made Jordan and his label a well known forward thinker in the file sharing debate.
