Andoorkonam is a village in Thiruvananthapuram district in the state of Kerala, India.[1]

It is located approximately 20 km from Thiruvananthapuram city. Andoorkonam is noted for its reserves of Kaolinite (china clay).[2] The temple of Sree Ramadasa Ashram is located nearby.[2]

Demographics

As of the 2001 Indian census, Andoorkonam had a population of 14736 with 7147 males and 7589 females.[1] trijyotipuram mahavishnu temple is situated in this place. A powerful famous mahavishnu temple with the presence of trimurthy.A Primary health centre is located at the heart of this village.Opposite to that Sithara Arts&Sports club a famous social service organisation is located here with service history of promoting cultural development of region. Maruppancodu devi temple and kudamuttom jama ath is situated in this place and AKG Samskarika samithy and REPUBLIC LIBRARY is situated in this place.All brothers arts and sports club also situated in andoorkonam.

Geography

The village is surrounded by Pallippuram to the north, Vembayam to the east, VavaraAmbalam to the west and Kazhakoottam to the south.[2]

The 220 KV Substation of KSEB is located in Andoorkonam. Recently it became known that Real estate mafia has purchased acres of Land nearby the substation and holding it.

THETTIYAR THODU

Starting from Old SREEKARIYAM Panchayathu(Now Thiruvananthapuram Corporation) and it flows into VELI KAYAL via POTHENCODE, ANDOORKONAM, Old KAZHAKKUTTOM Panchayathu(Now a part of Thiruvananthapuram Corporation). It is the only one water shed Project in Thiruvananthapuram Taluk. All brothers arts&sports club also situated in andoorkonam.
