Asadal Chronicles (Hangul아스달 연대기; RRAseudal Yeondaegi) is an upcoming South Korean television series directed by Kim Won-seok and written by Kim Young-hyun; starring Song Joong-ki, Jang Dong-gun, Kim Ji-won and Kim Ok-vin.[1][2][3]


The drama revolves around the power struggles, love and growth of the ancient city of Asadal, the capital of Gojoseon.



A cursed child born in Blue Stone Village under an ominous sign. He later becomes conqueror of Asadal, taking it from city-state to empire.
A war hero among the Saenyeok Tribe and master of strategy. He is ambitious and aims to become the first King of Asadal.
A woman born under a cursed sign and who overcomes adversity to become the first female politician of Asadal. She is Eun Seom's first love and the woman Ta Gon loves.
The last surviving Noeantal, a race different from humans, as well as the first Empress of Asadal.


Special appearance[edit]


  • The cast and crew attended a workshop in Yangju, Gyeonggi-do, on August 21, 2018.[17]
  • The first script read was held on August 26, 2018.[18]
  • Filming officially started on December 5, 2018 with the opening ceremony of the set, whose construction took place for eight months.[19]
