Axel Theodor Johannessen (29 May 1849 in Christiania – 2 March 1926) was a Norwegian paediatrician and Professor of Paediatrics at The Royal Frederick University from 1895 (Ordinarius from 1912) to 1921. He was one of the first paediatricians in Norway and founded the discipline of paediatrics at the university. He also founded the Norwegian Society of Pediatricians and served as its President until 1922. He received the Order of St. Olav in 1907 (Knight First Class).
