Behzad Davarpanah (Persian: بهزاد داورپناه‎, romanizedBehzād DāvarPanāh; born February 24, 1992), better known by his stage name, Behzad Leito (Persian: بهزاد لیتو‎), is an Iranian rapper and producer.

Early life[edit]

Behzad Leito was born in Tehran, Iran on February 24, 1992. He became interested in rap in his teenage years when his friends in school talked about new rap songs. He also mentioned Erfan as one of his favourite Iranian rappers during his teenage life. He always wanted to play a role in rap music and succeed in hip-hop. Leito moved to Dubai, UAE with his family when he was 16.[1]

Musical career[edit]

Early years[edit]

When Leito moved to Dubai, he started downloading online rap beats and recording his voice with a low-quality microphone. Everything was amateur and unprofessional, but he got more engaged in music.[1] Currently, he is among the most popular rappers in Iran. On the RadioJavan website, his music has a total of more than 600 million plays.[2]

2011–12: Paydar[edit]

In Dubai, Leito met Erfan through a mutual friend, and they created a new group named "Paydar" with Sina Taham, Afra, Sarkesh, Sogand, Paya, and Gdaal. They had a few successful collaborations.[1] He released his first song, "Kargardan" featuring Erfan in May, 2011 .[3] "Paydar 1" was another collaboration with 6 other Paydar members. Leito decided to work alone in 2012 because he thought he would have a brighter future, so he left Paydar.[1]

2012: Zedbazi[edit]

There was a family gathering which Leito attended with his family when he was still in Paydar. During that gathering, he met Sijal, Zedbazi member who Leito knew him through his songs. After that Leito became friends with him and Alireza JJ.[1] His first collaboration was with Alireza JJ. JJ produced "Farda (Live Remix Tomorrow)" which was a new style for Leito, and he became successful.[4] He has a few other collaborations which became hits. His first song with Zedbazi members was "Saat Vayse". Then he decided to attend in Zedbazi's first studio album, Zakhar Nameh, and specifically in the song "Nakoni Bavar". "Nakoni Bavar" is one of the most famous songs of Zedbazi.[5] Also, "Fogholade", featuring Sijal and Sami Beigi, is one of the greatest hits of Leito with approximately five million plays on the RadioJavan website. Behzad's collaboration with Zedbazi made him more famous and successful.[6]

2013–14: Khakestari[edit]

In 2013, Leito announced his first studio album, Khakestari. On May 15, 2013, he released the first single of his album, "Naab" featuring Alireza JJ and Sijal. That song became a hit real quickly. Second single, "Sakht Migzare", was released on October 16, 2013, and the third single of this album, "Sargarmi", was released on March 17, 2014. Two weeks before the album, Leito released the fourth single of Khakestari, "Palang". "Palang" was a controversial song for the Iranian culture, but many people gained interest in it.[7] Finally after a long time, Behzad Notaz first studio album was released on October 10, 2014 on the label RadioJavan.[8] The producers of this albums included Leito himself, Amir A-Plus, Alireza JJ, AFX, and Dynatonic. The song "Palang" from this album has peaked at number fourteen on the top Hit Songs of 1393 on the RadioJavan website.[9] "Sargarmi" and "Doostam Hastan" from Khakestari are also in the top fifty. On the Top 100 of 2014 list on RadioJavan, Palang has peaked at twenty-seven.[10]

2015–present: Dadim Raft Toro and Bistose[edit]

On January 14, 2015, Leito released a new single featuring Sogand. The single track "Dadim Raft Toro" became a hit in short time. After three months this track reached three million plays on the RadioJavan website. On the top Hit Songs of 1393 On RadioJavan, this track hit number three.[9]

On his twenty-third Birthday, Leito announced a new album called Bistose (23). He said that he will be releasing this album in fall 2015.[11] The first single of this album, "Bahatam Dasham" was released on June 12, 2015. The second single, "Khaak" featuring Sijal and Nassim, was released on August 27, 2015. The actual album was released on November 14, 2015 on the RadioJavan website, Leito's label. Bistose contains ten tracks, featuring artists such as Sepehr Khalse, Alireza JJ, Nassim, and Erfan. Most of these track are produced by Leito himself, but Alireza JJ, A-PLUS, Electronic Jay, and Khashayar SR have produced some parts of the album.

After the release of "Bistose", on November 26, 2015, Leito released a music video for the first track on his album which is also called "Bistose".[citation needed]

Musical style[edit]

Leito's rap style is influenced by Canadian rapper Drake. In interviews he has mentioned that he wants to create music with a similar style. He wants to produce albums because he believes that singles are catchy and non-personal. Leito is also an R&B Singer and focuses on the chorus parts of his songs. He loves performing live and connecting with his fans.[1][12]
