Bhonsala Military School is a residential military school in Nasik, Maharashtra state, India operated by the Central Hindu Military Education Society (CHMES).[2] The school was founded in 1937 by Dr. B. S. Moonje.

History

Bhonsala Military School, Nashik was established by Balakrishna Shivram Moonje in 1935. It started working on 12 June 1937. The campus of the school is called Rambhoomi and the students called Ramdandees in honour of the Hindu mythological figure Lord Rama, who is believed to have an association with Nashik.

A sister school was started in Nagpur in June 1996.[3]

Current administration

The school's commandant is Col. (Retd.) S. S. Kashikar, who took over from Lt. Col. (Retd.) S. S. Raikar on 12 August 2013. The principal is Maj.S R. Mahale, who took over from the former principal A.Y. Kulkarni. The chief training officer is Capt. (Retd.) N. D. Joshi.

Facilities,

The school has a huge playground with all facilities including a football ground, athletic track, basketball courts, volleyball court, hockey ground, horse riding, rifle shooting yard and an international level swimming pool is also available for the students studying in the BMS campus. Bhonsala was also known for the high performance in sports, which is recognised by the Sports Authority of India (SAI). Virendra Singh is one of the experienced coach of Bhonsala military School, who has given many international level performers.[4]
