Buddleja 'Autumn Surprise' is a hybrid cultivar arising from a cross of Buddleja crispa with Buddleja alternifolia 'Argentea' made by chief propagator Peter Moore of the Longstock Park Nursery, Stockbridge, England. The cultivar was released to commerce in 2011.

Description[edit]

'Autumn Surprise' is a late summer to early autumn-flowering shrub growing to a height of 2 m. The inflorescences are small terminal panicles of violet-blue flowers, complemented by small silvery grey leaves. [1]

Cultivation[edit]

Owing to its recent introduction, 'Autumn Surprise' is rare in cultivation in the UK. It is included in the NCCPG National Collection held by Longstock Park Nursery. The shrub is not known to have been introduced to North America.
