|Origin||P. Podaras, Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, USA|
Buddleja 'Podaras8', selling name Flutterby Petite Blue Heaven is a sterile hybrid cultivar raised by Peter Podaras whilst at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, and patented in 2011. Flutterby Petite Blue Heaven is derived from the self-pollination of an unnamed B. davidii × B. alternifolia hybrid.
Flutterby Petite Blue Heaven makes a small shrub with an upright and spreading habit, growing to 0.8 × 0.8 m, with terminal and axillary conical panicles, < 5.5 cm long by 3.3 cm wide, comprising around 72 faintly fragrant violet-blue flowers which emerge in spring and persist until the first frosts of the fall. The opposite, elliptical leaves are about 3.7 cm long by 1.7 cm wide, lanulose above, tomentose below.
Released in 2011, the cultivar has yet to appear in literature. The only references (2012) are the US patent application given, and photograph from a nursery website.
