Bunzl Processor Division is a subsidiary of Bunzl, a distribution and outsourcing company headquartered in London. Located in North Kansas City, Bunzl Processor Division was known for being a meat processing supplies company, but has evolved into a primary distributor of food packaging, plant operating supplies and equipment for the food processing industry.

History[edit]

Bunzl Processor Division used to be known as Koch Supplies which opened in 1883.[1] Koch Supplies was known as a manufacturer and distributor of plant operating supplies, including footwear, work and safety clothing, and material-handling equipment to butchers and meat processors. Many of the same technologies manufactured during the 20th century are still used for the products today. Koch Supplies was acquired by Bunzl in 2001.[2] This acquisition allowed the company to grow products lines outside of meat processing.

Awards and recognition[edit]

  • In 2012, Bunzl Processor Division received the Spirit of Excellence Award from Hormel Foods in recognition of achieving a 95.32% supplier rating in 2011. This marked the company’s 15th Award.[3]
  • In 2012, the American Association of Meat Processors (AAMP) honored Bunzl Processor Division with the. F.W. Witt Supplier of the Year Award.[4] The award was established to honor a person and/or supplier member’s devotion to the meat and poultry industry, particularly small- and medium-sized plant operators.
