Caibiran, officially the Municipality of Caibiran (Waray: Bungto san Caibiran; Cebuano: Lungsod sa Caibiran; Filipino: Bayan ng Caibiran), is a municipality in the province of Biliran in the Eastern Visayas (Region VIII) of the Philippines. The population was 22,524 at the 2015 census.[3] In the 2016 electoral roll, it had 14,698 registered voters.[4]

Geography[edit]

Caibiran is located at 11°34′N 124°35′E / 11.57°N 124.58°E / 11.57; 124.58.

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, the municipality has a land area of 83.55 square kilometres (32.26 sq mi)[2] constituting 15.59% of the 536.01-square-kilometre- (206.95 sq mi) total area of Biliran.

Barangays[edit]

Caibiran is politically subdivided into 17 barangays.[5] In 1948, the barangays of Ungale, Tuo, and Inasuyan were transferred to Kawayan, Biliran.[6]

In the 2015 census, Caibiran had a population of 22,524.[3] The population density was 270 inhabitants per square kilometre (700/sq mi).

In the 2016 electoral roll, it had 14,698 registered voters.[4]
