The Portuguese Falcon (Portuguese for "Captain Falcon" in the original) is a 2015 Portuguese action adventure film directed by João Leitão. It was released on April 23, 2015.[1] This portuguese feature film was a box-office bomb (27.309 tickets sold)[2] having barely recouped its budget (€250k) on its entire theatrical run (€129k).[3]

Plot[edit]

The film is set in Portugal during the 1960s.

Cast[edit]

Production[edit]

The film was shot in Santarém and Lisbon.

Reception[edit]

The film received critical aclaim.

Sequel[edit]

The film has a post-credits scene setting up a sequel. However, due to the disastrous box-office results, it is very unlikely that a sequel will ever get made. The film's distributor was expecting 30 thousand admissions on its opening weekend. However the film struggled to reach 27 thousand tickets sold in its entire 5 week theatrical run, having only made €129k on its €250k budget. In contrast, Ruas Rivais, a film with a similar demographic, but with a much lower production and marketing budget, made € 191k at the box-office, around the same time in 2014, with 36 thousand tickets sold.
