Carcharocles is an extinct genus of sharks, belonging to the order Lamniformes.[1] They lived from the Late Eocene to the Late Pliocene. The genus usually includes Megalodon, however some taxonomic authorities place it in other genera. Some authors consider the genus a subgenus of Otodus.[2]
