The main article for this category is Christian martyrs.

This category is for individuals and groups of martyrs who died for their Eastern Orthodox faith from the 16th century onwards.

Earlier martyrs are categorised as Category:Ante-Nicene Christian martyrs (1st to 4th century) or Category:Christian martyrs of the Middle Ages (5th to 15th centuries).

The Orthodox Church also recognises as Passion bearers those who died righteously at the hands of others, not necessarily as a result of Christian witness.
