The Tayloe family is a First Family of Virginia and prominent family in early U.S. history. Its immigrant ancestor was William Tayloe, who immigrated from England circa 1640 to York County, Virginia, where he was appointed as High Sheriff in the colony. He belonged to the Church of England.
