Old talk[edit]

Please note that per WP:CATGRS, ethnic-occupational crosscategories should only exist when that combination is already recognized as a notable cultural or academic topic by sources outside of Wikipedia. For example, there has to be something uniquely encyclopedic about being an Irish American criminal or an Irish American singer, and you have to be able to write an encyclopedia article about how those are different from being an Italian American criminal or an Italian American singer. If it isn't possible to view them as being fundamentally different phenomena, then the crosscategory is not permitted. Bearcat 03:29, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Category by occupation[edit]

I just noticed that the various categories of Irish-Americans by occupation has been deleted. I can't speak to other groups, but I was surprised that, as pointed out by another editor, a category for politicians was not retained. To this I would add ones for clergy and law enforcement. From a historical perspective, these are the three traditional fields in which this population had a significant presence and made a major contribution to American history. Anybody else think that they should be created again? Daniel the Monk (talk) 16:13, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
