Completeness[edit]

Incomplete list, no Karl Malden & Peter Bogdanovich & the Vukovich brothers (baseball players), Ohio Rep. Sen. George Voinovich - Serbians, no Peter Angelos (Orioles owner), no SD Charger owner (also Greek), no Adrien Zmed - Romanian (cop show and "Batchelor Party"), maybe even Bruce's buddy Joe Grushecki (Ukrainian?). Tina Fey is Greek. Not sure of Academy Award Winning Actor F. Murray Abraham although he grew up in The Hill District of Pittsburgh of Syrian/Italian heritage, but read The Epistle at St. George's Antiochian Church in Pittsburgh in the fall of 2001. I think George Dzundza, the computer programmer in the wheelchair in the Kevin Costner movie "No Way Out" is Ukrainian Orthodox, but might be Byzantine Catholic. I guess with Jagr off the list, he's not American anymore, no Russian hockey players like Sidney Gonchar of the Penguins. Also, Jennifer Anniston's godfather was Telly Savalas and she's of Greek heritage too. Vlade Divacs (sp?), the former NBA player is Serbian Orthodox. Former NFL quarterback Jeff George is Russian Orthodox. The late Mstisvlav Rostropovich was also very staunchly Russian Orthodox, even after banishment from the Soviet Union. Igor Sikorsky, the father of the Russian helicopter, co-founded a Russian parish, exit 32 of I-95, the old Connecticut Turnpike when he arrived here.

Sam Sianis, found of the legendary Billy Goat Tavern in Chicago was Greek and he's also tied to the curse of the Chicago Cubs from 1945. His restaurant was the object of many skits on the early years of Saturday Night Live ("Cheeseboiger, Cheeseboiger") as many of the original troupe of SNL arrived in NYC from the famed Second City Comedy club in Chicago and frequented the establishment.

The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of North and South America, while fairly independent, answers to the Patriarchate of Constantinople. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mtitch (talkcontribs)

Mike Ilitch, who made his fortune with Little Ceaser's Pizza and currently owns the Detroit Tigers and (I believe) the Red Wings is also Serbian Orthodox. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mtitch (talkcontribs)

Categories for people by religion are not intended to be "complete lists". People are only included if religion plays some sort of important role in why they are notable. Certainly sports stars and actors should not be included. Good Ol’factory (talk) 21:49, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
