Deletion/Renaming/Merging Nomination[edit]

So far, the rationale for this nomination is that the word "Traditionalism" is ambiguous, as many things can be so called. The proposed changes were:

  • Renaming to the scope of the article: Integral Traditionalism, or in any case adding the word "Integral" in the beginning. However, this expression returns very few results on Google Scholar.
  • Renaming to "Perennialism", which returns more results, although many of them are unrelated to the subject matter.
  • Renaming to "Traditionalist school of philosophy", from the base category article. I searched on Google Scholar for this, and found that although "traditionalist school" returns a good number of results, most of them are unrelated.
  • In any case, if the word "traditionalism" or "traditionalist" appear anywhere except as first word, it was suggested that it be changed to lowercase.
  • Deleting as too obscure is another option.

Here are my own comments on the above suggestions:

On the deleting suggestion, I don't agree with the notion that the category is too obscure. Sure, there aren't many articles on the subject here in Wikipedia, but I'd say this is a temporary situation. It follows from the fact that this philosophical school's authors and students aren't that much interested in technology to begin with, specially when it comes to wiki editing. Most are in the pre-blog days yet, and IMHO it's just a matter of time for them to catch up. Once it happens, I'm confident there'll be enough material to warrant a WikiProject of its own.

But I agree with the renaming proposition, as the term "Traditionalism" is really too generic. My suggestion is for it to be renamed "Sophia Perennis". This returns many results on Google Scholar, most of them closely related to the school and its subject matter. (Please notice that my suggestion is for the "Perennis" word to begin with an uppercase "P", since this is the way it's used on a lot of the scholar articles and in the perennialists' books themselves.)

This would require a some changes to the Sophia Perennis page, but I think it's worth it. I'd move it to Sophia Perennis (disambiguation), then create a new Sophia Perennis page redirecting to Traditionalist School, and add there a link to the renamed disambiguation page.
