Chandpur (চাঁদপুর জেলা) is a district of Bangladesh. It is a part of the Chittagong Division.[1] It was part of greater Comilla District until 1984.[2]

Chandpur is the first district in Bangladesh to implement the District Branding initiative. Chandpur is now known as "ইলিশের বাড়ি চাঁদপুর "-"City of Hilsha". Its logo is designed by internationally recognized famous artist from Chandpur, Mr. Hashem Khan.


The population of the district as of the 2011 census was 2,416,018.[3]

Chandpur District is divided into the following sub-districts (upazilas):

  2. Faridganj Upazila
  3. Haimchar Upazila
  4. Haziganj Upazila
  5. Kachua Upazila
  6. Matlab Dakshin Upazila
  7. Matlab Uttar Upazila
  8. Shahrasti Upazila
