Christopher Slaski
Christopher Slaski is a British composer who has created music for films,[1][2] television, theatre and live performance. In 2009 he was named the year's Best Young European Film Composer by the World Soundtrack Academy. His studios based in London, Madrid and Paris are where he does the majority of his composing.
Early life and education
Slaski holds a music degree from Cambridge University and a postgraduate in composition from London's The Royal Academy of Music. He also attended masters classes by Ennio Morricone in Italy.
Career
Slaski has written scores for a number of films, including Kevin Spacey's Beyond The Sea,[3] The Pianotuner Of Earthquakes,[2][4][5][6] the Spanish romantic-comedy Semen Una Historia de Amor, The Asylum,[7] and the thriller Proyecto Dos. In 2009 he scored the Goya-nominated La Verguenza, by Spanish writer-director David Planell and in 2011 Rue Huvelin.
Slaski's score for the Spanish-French film Cuadrilatero, performed by he The Brodsky Quartet, won awards at four international film festivals. In 2011 he won the prize for Best Original Score at the Rhodes Island International Film Festival for his work on Hollow, directed by Rob Sorrenti. On the other hand, a Variety review of his score for the film Semen, A Love Story was less positive.[8]
He has also composed music for television, including documentaries, animated films and dramas for BBC, ITV and Channel 4. He has collaborated with BAFTA-winning director Beryl Richards on several occasions.
Slaksi has written scores for theatrical productions,[9][10] including Lope de Vega's El Perro Del Hortelano (The Dog In The Manger) directed by Laurence Boswell.
Slaski has written concert music, music for commercials and also arrangements and orchestrations for both pop and classical artists.[11]
In 2015 the documentary film A Good American, with a score co-written by Slaski and Guy Farley, screened at the CPH:DOX Festival in Denmark.[12]
