Cigar City Brewing
Cigar City Brewing is a beer brewery in Tampa, Florida, at 3924 West Spruce Street. It opened in the spring of 2009 with two employees, Joseph (Joey) Redner as owner and CEO and Wayne Wambles as head brewer.[1]
Beers
Cigar City Brewing's range of beers includes Jai Alai India Pale Ale (IPA), an IPA containing 7.5% alcohol by volume; it accounts for over 50% of Cigar City's beer sales, as of 2015. Another is Maduro Brown Ale.[2]
Florida Cracker White Ale is a Belgian-inspired white ale brewed with coriander and orange peel to emulate a Belgian white ale. Hotter than Helles is a German-inspired light lager that is perfectly paired for Florida's hottest weather as the beer is only 5% alcohol by volume and very refreshing. Invasion Pale Ale is a citrusy American pale ale weighing in at 5% alcohol.[2]
In January of 2016, Hotter than Helles Lager was replaced by a Tampa-style lager known simply as "Lager."[3]
Pending sale
As of March 2016, Cigar City has agreed to sell controlling interest to Boston-based private equity firm Fireman Capital Partners, which already owns majority stakes in Oskar Blues, Perrin Brewing and the Utah Brewers Cooperative outfit that includes the Wasatch and Squatters brands.[4][5]
