Colourlovers (styled COLOURlovers) is a social network service, blog, and international creative community that focuses on color inspiration and color trends for both personal and professional creative projects.[2][3]

The colors, palettes, patterns and shapes on Colourlovers are created by a community of members using tools on the website. As of November 2015, over 4.4 millions of its members have created more than 8.29 million colors, 3.95 million palettes, 5.02 million patterns and 472,918 pattern templates.[4] There are about one million visitors each month.[5]

Colourlovers was founded in December 2004 by Darius A. Monsef IV,[6] and is based in Portland, Oregon.

In April 2011, Colourlovers raised $1 million in angel funding.[7] A book was published in 2011 containing about three thousand choice patterns from the website.[8]

Color of the year[edit]

Each year since 2010, in the members of Colourlovers have voted in February of each year for their favorite colour created by themselves during the previous year, which is designated as the "Colour Lovers Colour of the Year". For example, in January 2010, all the colours created in the previous year between February 2009 and January 2010 were voted on to determine which one was the favorite colour of 2010.

The results of each year's vote are shown below. So far, there seems to be a predeliction by the members in favor of reddish colors.

Sunny Orange (Colour Lovers Colour of the Year 2010)[9] (#FC5110)

Go Bunny Go (Colour Lovers Colour of the Year 2011)[10] (#C2E20D)
