Dick's Picks Volume 19 is one of the 13 Dick's Picks released during the Sabbatical taken by Mickey Hart, from February 1971 until his gratefully appreciated return in October 1974 through the final show at Solder Field on July 9th 1995. There are 36 Dick's Pick releases. Bill Kreutzmann never missed a beat or a gig during his Rhythm Devil partner's Sabbatical.

Caveat emptor[edit]

Each volume of Dick's Picks has its own "caveat emptor" label, advising the listener of the sound quality of the recording. The one for Volume 19 reads:

"Despite a rather skeevy ouverture, the sound quality of this release quickly settles into a nice, warm groove. Listen closely, however, for you may just find that your mind will be blown by the music contained herein."
