Dimitrios "Dimitris" Kourbelis (Greek: Δημήτρης Κουρμπέλης, born 2 November 1993) is a Greek footballer who plays for Superleague side Panathinaikos.[1]

The 23 years' old central defender who can also play as defensive midfielder, is one of the big bets of the Greek football, as they believe he can bring even more money (800,000 euro) the offer made for Kostas Fortounis in 2011 from 1. FC Kaiserslautern. Reports indicated that Asteras Tripolis during the summer 2013 rejected two proposals for the talented ace. One was from PAOK(€500,000) and the other from Fulham (€800,000), without ignoring the vast interest of AEK.[2] On 31 May 2015 Kourbelis reached 100 appearances with the jersey of Asteras Tripolis and Greek international defensive midfielder celebrated, by scoring his first goal in 2014-15 playoffs against Atromitos.[3] He made 131 appearances in his career at Tripoli in all competitions.

On 23 December 2016, the talented defensive midfielder signed a 3.5 season contract with Greek giants Panathinaikos and was officially announced by Athens club, on an annual fee of €250.000. The Greens will pay €500.000 to his former club during the next three seasons, along with a 25% next transfer percentage and some appearances and targets bonus, which could increase the cost of 23-year-old international's move to the team of manager Marinos Ouzounidis to €700.000.[4] [5] On 5 January 2017, he made his debut with the club playing as a starter in a frustrating 1-0 away loss against Platanias F.C. that left Panathinaikos behind in the claiming of Super League title.
