The Donetsk bus shelling incident (or just Donetsk shelling incident) was a military shelling incident involving civilian fatalities, which happened on January 22, 2015, in Donetsk, Ukraine.[2] The shelling involved two projectiles, both exploded close to a trolleybus and a car. Early reports indicated at least 13 people, all civilians, were killed.[2] The number of fatalities is uncertain however, and may be inflated.[4]

Events[edit]
OSCE's Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (SMM) was informed of the incident by the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), and SMM members inspected the scene.[1][5]
At the time of the incident, Donetsk was and is still controlled by the pro-Russian separatist forces of the DPR, and the incident came after heavy fighting at the city's airport ended just on the previous day, when DPR forces finally overran the Ukrainian government forces, concluding the second battle for the airport.[2]
