The Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Ratan Award (also called as the Ambedkar Ratan Award) is a award presented by the Government of Delhi (India) in honour of B. R. Ambedkar, the country's first law minister, father of the Indian Constitution and champion of human rights.[1]

History[edit]

The Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Ratan award is given for:[2]

  • outstanding contribution to the promotion of social understanding, socio-economic or educational upliftment of the Scheduled Castes in Delhi
  • efforts towards Integration of the Scheduled Castes into the mainstream of

society and work done for their socio-economic and educational upliftment

  • A public work or a mass movement which has made considerable positive impact on

the quality of life of the Scheduled Castes.

The award presented to an Individual/Group of Individual(s) or organization(s)/ Institution(s). The money constituent of this award is ₹ 1 Lakh (Rupees one lakh) rupees and a citation and shawl.[3]
