Village Khantoli is located at an elevation of 5000’ in Bageshwar district of Uttrakhand. Village has a primary school, High School and Primary Health Centre. The total geographical area of village is 154.37 hectares and total population of 426 peoples. There are about 102 houses in Khantoli village more in ruin than occupied. Sub-district headquarter Kanda is 8 Km. away by road and district headquarter Bageshwar town at 34 Km.
Khantoli is essentially a village of Brahmins of surname ‘Pant’.
A local Deity Dhoulinag (white Snake) on Khantoli hill top overseas around 50 villages, of the Valley. From temple one can see a series of snow covered Himalayan peaks including famous highest Indian Nandadevi peak. It appears since long, Serpent worship in this region were existing as nearby hilltop too have similar Berinag (Coiled Snake), Kalinag (Black Snake), Feni Nag (Hooded Snake), Kharhari Nag temples etc. All religious functions are managed by two priests one of Pant Community and other of Rajput Dhami community. Both held the post as hereditary functions assigned to particular family. Dhoulinag Temple must be more than 150 year old. Old small temple is now replaced with a beautiful temple complex that has adjacent flat ground for village fair and possible helipad area in future.
Village has two distinct groups of houses called Pargaon and Naghar. High School is located in Pargaon. Panchayat Ghar and Community Health centre are located in Naghar. Oldest Primary school is located almost in the middle of the village at the place called Kartekhalli, a big natural stone slab.
