Barbecue in Political Settings

The most interesting thing that I learned about barbecue so far is how influential it was in political campaigns. Yes, immense amounts of food and alcohol provided voters with an insentive of sorts for listening to "stump speeches" and those speeches given on a stage, but it was also used figuratively in cartoons such as this one about Andrew Jackson.
