Admin help[edit]

The author appears to be a good-faith editor, but there is the possibility that he has been unknowingly influenced by this blocked editor. Please check the deleted history of Peyman Keshavarzi (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) and all other similarly-named pages to verify that this is a completely new creation so it can be approved. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 19:03, 21 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Also, since this page was copied from the Simple English Wikipedia according to the edit summary of the first page, it may be helpful to contact an admin on the Simple English Wikipedia to check page histories, previous incarnations, and logs for simple:Peyman Keshavarzi and related pages, including simple:Peyman Keshavarzi Nazarloo and simple:Peyman Keshavarz. See simple:Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2020/Peyman Keshavarz. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 23:05, 21 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
davidwr I think start a poll to create an article. It is better for other users to comment so that we can decide what do you think?--Bolc245 (talk) 21:11, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
AFD is to decide if a page should be deleted, see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion and Wikipedia:Deletion. Be patient, I think within a couple of weeks, maybe a lot sooner, there will be an article about this person in the main encyclopedia. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 21:16, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Davidwr, this is similar to 20 November 2020 version created by a sockpuppet at Peyman Keshavarzi. Dreamy Jazz talk to me | my contributions 17:24, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
There have been changes, but parts of the infobox and general structure are very similar. Content between the drafts seem to be all in the same order, but rewritten. This could be explained by the user basing their version on one created by a sockpuppet. There has been another user who created a draft which was similar. In that case it turned out to be probably a case of mistaken identity, as they translated it from fawiki. I think this is the same kind of case here (subtracting having to translate). Dreamy Jazz talk to me | my contributions 17:32, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Also, all the strong similarities I can see come from the edit with the edit summary on simple wiki "Copying/Pasting the article from RfD". Although I cannot see deleted content there, I would suggest that this content comes from a sockpuppet at some point. The blocked editor is active globally, so this definitely seems the most likely answer. I doubt that the creator of this article is directly related, but if anything it is meatpuppetry. Thanks. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 19:48, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
And to note, بولس245 has been found by a CU likely to ArmanAfifeh. Dreamy Jazz talk to me | my contributions 22:22, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ping ShadowBallX[edit]

@ShadowBallX: Can you confirm that the content you added to this edit of simple:User:ShadowBallX/Peyman Keshavarzi Nazarloo is your own? I ask because the edit summary says Copying/Pasting the article from RfD which suggests it was copied from somewhere else, but it's unclear where "from RfD" refers to. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 21:21, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

davidwr The RfD I was referring to in that was this one from January 8th, 2021. Sorry I didn't specifically mention it when I made the edit. ShadowBallX (talk) 23:01, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
ShadowBallX So, how much of what is now either this draft or simple:User:ShadowBallX/Peyman Keshavarzi Nazarloo from the now-deleted version on the Simple English Wikipedia? davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 00:30, 23 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
davidwr From what I see, only 3 of the references (refs 1, 3, and 4), and 3 of the external links (Soccerway, WorldFootball.net, and PlaymakerStats) are shared between the two. The only other things shared between the 2 are the correct info for the clubs. ShadowBallX (talk) 02:09, 23 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, that sounds good. I'm inclined to accept this on its merits but because of the history of this topic (not this particular article), it will require immediate semi- or pending-changes-protection or at a minimum, heavy watchlisting by admins who have the "apply protection" trigger-finger at the ready. This topic has just too much of a history to not have that. I would like to hold off for 24 hours as one of the editors of this page is currently blocked but, depending on information I do not know, may (or may not) be unblocked shortly. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 16:34, 23 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
In light of all of the socking, I'm inclined to say WP:Blow it up and start over, create a stub, then permanently extended-confirm-protect the resulting page. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 23:18, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback[edit]

I rolled this back to the version of 21:27, 21 January 2021‎ by ShadowBallX.

This wiped out edits by two blocked- or globally-locked IP addresses and one blocked- or globally-locked account. The account is confirmed to be a previously-blocked editor, and the two IP addresses are blocked or locked for "cross-wiki abuse," presumably connected to block-evasion.

This also wiped out several edits by ShadowBallX.

This is not a statement on whether the original edit is "contaminated" or not, see the discussion above for that. This is just to wipe out the work by known banned/blocked editors. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 23:27, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Davidwr: Hi, I did not realize there was a draft and I translated the article from Simple English. This is not a problem.Because the article remained there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sasanpajoh (talkcontribs) 13:28, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
One of the reasons it was kept is because it was very similar to the early version of the article I made there. The article was said to be voted as kept, however the article that is currently there is the same "early version" that I made. ShadowBallX (talk) 17:38, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@ShadowBallX: Sasanpajoh has been blocked as a sockpuppet of the same "sockmaster" as بولس245. It's the same "long term abuse" sockmaster that has been pushing for this athlete to have an article for awhile now. Details here. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 20:05, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ping BallXmado[edit]

@BallXmado: Welcome to Wikipedia. I see you have created versions of this on other-language Wikipedias. You may be interested in the edit history of this draft and the fact that for a long time a banned editor has been trying to get a page about this player created. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 15:06, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Davidwr: you stated on the draft that this meets NFOOTY. Which criteria would that be and which sources support it? Also globally blocked hoax masters aren't going to be able to respond, so I don't recommend pinging them. CUPIDICAE💕 16:42, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I see he's now on their website but it makes no sense since he's been signed to the team since Jan 2020...but I fail to see how he meets NFOOTY given the excessive amounts of hoaxing going on with this. CUPIDICAE💕 16:56, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Assuming https://sabailfc.az/az/peykes/ is not itself a hoax, it looks like he has played in 12 matches for a team that is on the list of WP:FOOTY-qualifying teams. If that web site is a hoax, then the appropriate WikiProjects need to be told. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 17:26, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
And why do half of the sources have completely different data? ArmanAffifeh is a prolific hoaxer, not just on Wikimedia sites. Think about that for a bit. CUPIDICAE💕 17:30, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If the hoaxer is manipulating seemingly-reliable sources, this needs a wider discussion so those sources can be blacklisted or at least mentioned prominently in Wikipedia:WikiProject Football and Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources. Also, at the time I pinged him, BallXmado had not been globally locked.
As far as THIS draft goes, I'm not sure what to do about it - if sources Wikipedia considers reliable say he's played in a qualifying game, then that's prima facia evidence that WP:NFOOTY is met. Now, this can be overcome by either showing that the source itself is not reliable with respect to this athlete's career, or by doing a "due diligence" search of other reliable sources in English and non-English languages, on- and off-line, to demonstrate that WP:Notability is not demonstrated despite a reliable source demonstrating that WP:NFOOTY is met. I for one don't speak Farsi and I don't have access to paywalled and offline sources that would need to be checked as part of a "due diligence" search. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 17:44, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Question About The Image On Commons[edit]

The player has an image on Wikimedia Commons (This image) that has been up for deletion for around 2 months, but hasn't been closed. I'm wondering we're still allowed to use the image here? ShadowBallX (talk) 21:25, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

ShadowBallX, until the image is deleted I don't think there is anything which prevents the use of the image (within reason of course). Dreamy Jazz talk to me | my contributions 21:33, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
We are not supposed to use suspected or obvious copyright violations. VAXIDICAE💉 21:34, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
