Enmity is a Metalcore band from Cape Town, South Africa.

History[edit]

In 2007, Enmity was formed by Alain Martheze (vocals), Ross Fenner (guitar), Jay Thomson (bass), Kyle Boyce (guitar) and Trevor Tosh (drums). Shortly after starting, Enmity recorded their first demo at Paris Studios in Fish Hoek, Cape Town, South Africa. The album consisted of 5 tracks entitled: Who Is Your Enemy?, Nightmares From The Past, Lock Your Heart In A Box And Throw Away A Key, Sands Of Qrue and Through These Eyes.

The band later won the Bandit Battle of the Bands, winning studio time and other prizes. Soon after, Enmity was joined by Chloe Kiley (vocals/keyboard).

After playing live shows and gigging around the country for almost two years Kyle needed to concentrate on his cheffing career and moved to London, leaving Ross as the sole guitarist. Drummer Trevor also left soon after.

In September 2008 Enmity released their online single "True Romance".

In Dec 2008 Enmity began recording their album, Murderabilia, a concept album based on the lives of real-life serial killers with album art designed by Dimitar Bochokov, the album was mixed and mastered by Dean Bailey. All drums on the album were recorded by the band's vocalist, Alain, and just before recording was finished Graham Pitout joined as the new drummer. The album was officially released in June 2009 and was very well received around the country during the consequent national tour.

In April 2011, Enmity went back into studio to begin pre-production for their next release. After many months of writing the band sent their album off to The Brick Hit House to get mixed and mastered by renowned metal engineer Shane Frisby.

In March 2013, Enmity released Enrapture, a concept album based on fairy tales by The Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen.

Enmity have performed at various venues throughout South Africa and supported international bands Underoath, Every Time I Die, Haste the Day, Horse the Band and Betrayal on their tours to South Africa in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2013 respectively.

There is also an American death metal band called Enmity from Phoenix, Arizona.[1]
