English: Saint Sofia Statue, erected in 2000 replacing Lenin’s monument, which was removed from the same spot in 1991. It is 8m (26ft) in height and stands on a 16m (52.5ft) pedestal. It is made of copper and bronze by the sculptor Georgi Chapkanov and the architect Stanislav Konstantinov. The crown symbolizes the power, the wreath the fame and the owl the wisdom.
