English: A depleted uranium core piece for the KRUSTY experiment, cast from uranium-molybdenum (UMo) alloy at the Y-12 National Security Complex. The outer diameter is 110mm, and the inner bore is 39.88mm. Eight grooves provide a conduit for the heat pipe to conduct heat away from the core to the Stirling engines. |
