The photograph itself is released under a free license, as detailed below. The mural depicted is in the public domain. It was painted by Dean Cornwell in 1932 or 1933[1], and was "published" according to U.S. Copyright law when it was displayed in a public place without restrictions on photography.[2] Since the mural was first published without a copyright notice in the United States before 1978, it is considered to be in the public domain in the U.S. and most other countries.[3] None of the material depicted is copyrighted, so only the licensing terms of the photograph itself are relevant.[4]
