English: New Overleigh Cemetery - War Memorial The 'new' Overleigh Cemetery was opened in 1879 and is on the south side of Overleigh Road, opposite the old cemetery. This war memorial, which was erected after the 'Great War', is prominently placed at the top of a slope. The inscription on the other side reads:
THIS CROSS OF SACRIFICE IS ONE IN
DESIGN AND INTENTION WITH THOSE
WHICH HAVE BEEN SET UP IN FRANCE
AND BELGIUM AND OTHER PLACES
THROUGHOUT THE WORLD WHERE OUR
DEAD OF THE GREAT WAR ARE LAID
TO REST
