Added to NRHP: October 15, 1966 Designated NHL: December 29, 1962 NRHP Reference#: 66000674 Opened in 1857, this is the country's oldest musical auditorium retaining its original form and serving its original purpose. Architect Napoleon Le Brun was influenced by European opera houses, and designed an auditorium famed for its acoustical properties and fine sight lines. The "Grand Old Lady of Broad Street" has been the home of the Philadelphia Orchestra from 1900 to 2001.
