Pillbox, Winchfield, Pale Lane (south east) reference OS SU785547 Octagonal with seven embrasures and an internal X shaped wall. Entrance to NE protected by a wrap-round wall. Top is sculpted and there are hooks around the perimeter. This Pillbox is on PRIVATE land, ANYONE caught trespassing is now liable to be PROSECUTED. Situated just south of Pale Lane tunnel through the railway embankment and on the East side of the road. There is an identical pillbox on the West side of the road and a very similar (probably identical) pillbox to the north of the tunnel. A little to the south there is a bridge over a stream. There are a few anti-tank obstacles between the pill box and the tunnel entrance. OS reference SU785547 Photographed on 23-Apr-06. |
