Summary[edit]

This image shows the official logo of the 2005 Southeast Asian Games (also known as the SEA Games) held in November to December 2005 in various areas in the Philippines. The copyright of this image used to belong to the organizing committee of the Games, the Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee or PhilSOC. There is no free alternative of this image and can only be sourced from the 2005 edition's website, www.2005.seagames.com.ph. It is believed that low resolution of this image has no direct effect on the commercial value of this image, and by the fact that SOCs (SEA Games organizing committees) are dissolved after all the completion of the games' papers, it is probable that the copyright of this image has been transferred to the Southeast Asian Games Federation. This image was uploaded under fair use and is used in the article: 2005 Southeast Asian Games for educational purposes only and with the Wikimedia Foundation as a non-profit organization, qualifies the use of this image as fair use. Other uses of this image, stated or otherwise, may violate international intellectual property rights. Source: http://www.2005seagames.com.ph/ and http://ocasia.org/regional_games.asp

Portion used

The entire logo is used to convey the meaning intended and avoid tarnishing or misrepresenting the intended image.

Low resolution?

The logo is of a size and resolution sufficient to maintain the quality intended by the company or organization, without being unnecessarily high resolution.

Purpose of use

The image is placed in the infobox at the top of the article discussing 2005 Southeast Asian Games, a subject of public interest. The significance of the logo is to help the reader identify the organization, assure the readers that they have reached the right article containing critical commentary about the organization, and illustrate the organization's intended branding message in a way that words alone could not convey.

Replaceable?

Because it is a non-free logo, there is almost certainly no free representation. Any substitute that is not a derivative work would fail to convey the meaning intended, would tarnish or misrepresent its image, or would fail its purpose of identification or commentary.
