Summary

Description
English: Countries that explicitly and openly support India for UNSC permanent seat.

India

Support by UN Members

India's bid for permanent member of UNSC is now backed by four of the five permanent members, namely France,[1] Russia,[2] United Kingdom[3] and United States.[4] On 15 April 2011, China officially expressed its support for an increased Indian role at the United Nations, without explicitly endorsing India's Security Council ambitions.[5][6] However, recently China endorsed Indian candidacy as a permanent UNSC member provided that India revokes its support for Japanese candidacy.[7] As a whole, the African Union also supports India's candidacy for permanent member of UNSC.[8]

As part of the G4 nations, India is supported by Brazil, Germany, and Japan for the permanent seat. Other countries that explicitly and openly support India for UNSC permanent seat are – Afghanistan,[9] Armenia,[10] Australia,[11] The Bahamas,[12] Bahrain,[13] Bangladesh,[14] Belarus,[15] Belgium,[16] Belize,[17] Benin,[18] Bhutan,[19] Bolivia,[20] Brunei,[21] Bulgaria,[22] Cambodia,[23] Chile,[24] Comoros,[25] Croatia,[26] Cuba,[27] Cyprus,[28] Czech Republic,[29] Denmark,[30] Dominican Republic,[31] Estonia,[32] Ethiopia,[33] Fiji,[34] Finland,[35] Ghana,[36] Greece,[37] Guyana,[38] Hungary,[39] Iceland,[40] Iran,[41] Israel,[42] Jamaica,[43] Laos,[44] Lesotho[45] Liberia,[46] Libya,[47] Lithuania,[48] Luxembourg,[49] Kazakhstan,[50] Kyrgyzstan,[51] Malawi,[52] Malaysia,[53] Maldives,[54] Mauritius,[55] Micronesia,[56] Mongolia,[57] Morocco,[36] Mozambique,[58] Myanmar,[59] Namibia,[60] Nepal,[61] Netherlands,[62] New Zealand,[63] Nicaragua,[64] Nigeria,[65] Norway,[66] Oman,[67] Palau,[56] Papua New Guinea,[68] Peru,[69] Poland,[70] Portugal,[71] Rwanda,[72] Qatar,[73] Senegal,[74] Seychelles,[75] Singapore,[76] Slovakia,[77] Suriname,[78] Swaziland,[79] Sweden,[80] Syria,[81] Tajikistan,[82] Tanzania,[83] Trinidad and Tobago,[84] Turkey,[85] Tuvalu,[86] Ukraine,[87] United Arab Emirates,[88] Uruguay,[89] Uzbekistan,[90] Venezuela,[91] Vietnam,[92] Zambia,[93] Zimbabwe,[94]
