English: The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Philippine Sea (CV-47) transporting Douglas R4D-5 transport aircraft to Antarctica during "Operation Highjump", 8 January 1947. The ship arrived on station on 29 January, 1,060 km from the "Little America IV" base, and launched its R4Ds in the next few days to explore the Antarctic.
