Object history
Deutsch: Ein Siegel des Gerichts Esthal von 1772/1779 zeigt die Wappenfigur des 1954 genehmigten Wappens. Das Kreuz wird in der Französischen Zeit Dorfzeichen genannt, geriet aber danach in Vergessenheit. Das Kreuz dürfte eine Deformation des Ankerkreuzes darstellen, das die in Esthal und Umgebung (Erfenstein in der Gemarkung Esthal) begüterten Dalberger führten. Die Burg Erfenstein war im Mittelalter im Besitz der Bock von Erfenstein, die einen schwarzen Schuld mit silbernen Schildhaupt führten. Das Ortswappen von Esthal verbindet das Bock von Erfensteiner Wappen mit dem überlieferten Siegel.
