Fox Life is an international pay television network, launched by the Fox Broadcasting Company in 2004, which airs across Latin America, Europe (also available in HD, starting February 2012, in Italy), Southeast Asia, and Japan (changed its name to FOX bs238 in October 2011). Its basic programming include numerous television series, sitcoms and movies, among others, which includes some original programming in certain regions.

History

Fox Life Italy launched in Italy on 13 May 2004, Portugal on 19 May 2005 and in Bulgaria on 8 September 2005. For Latin America, it started in January 2006, when it was launched in Brazil. The channel also has versions in other countries around Europe. It launched in the Netherlands and Flanders on 7 September 2009.[1] Fox Life launched in the United States on 4 November 2013.[2]

Flemish version

As of 22 November 2011 Fox had to change the programming for Fox Life in Flanders due to television right issues in Belgium. From then on a separate Flemish version was airing in Belgium. It used to air the Dutch version. The provider of satellite television in the Netherlands, CanalDigitaal, had to replace Fox Life by the Flemish version as well because it shared the Fox Life feed with the Belgian provider of satellite television, TV Vlaanderen Digitaal.[3]

Launch in Southeast Asia

Fox Life was launched in Southeast Asia on 1 October 2017, replacing Star World.[4] Although in India Fox Life and Star World split, India is the only South Asian country where it has been launched.[5] Fox Life launched in India in June 2014, replacing Fox Traveller.

Rebranding/Closing in Europe

Fox Life for the French-speaking market discontinued on 31 December 2009.

From 22 September 2015 Fox Life has been replaced by 24Kitchen for satellite viewers in the Netherlands. The Flemish Fox Life was rebranded as Fox.[6] With the launch of a Flemish Fox-channel, the dedicated version of Fox Life ended.

Fox Networks Group Benelux announced that Fox Life would officially close in the Netherlands on 31 December 2016.[7] Most of its programmes moved to the Dutch Fox Channel.

Programming

In Latin America the channel aired soaps. It aired Telefe and Record soap operas from Brazil and Argentina, respectively. Currently, the channel features mostly cooking shows and reality series on the Latin American service. When the current format was launched, it was with the exception of Brazil, where the channel aired, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., content from Utilisima and original shows for the local audience, as Bem Simples, and, from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m., reality series seen on the Fox Life service elsewhere in the region (most non-original cooking shows are not seen on the Brazilian service, since the rights are held by GNT). On February 28, 2011, with the launch of the Bem Simples channel in Brazil, all Bem Simples/Utilisima content moved to that channel.
