Gang graffiti is the act of spray painting on walls in certain areas to represent your gang. Gang graffiti started back in the 1960s due to the rivalry between the Bloods and the Crips and Sureños and Norteños, and continued on until the 1992 Los Angeles riots. Today gang graffiti is common in many ghetto neighborhoods.
