Gemini Rue is a science fiction cyberpunk graphic adventure game made by Joshua Nuernberger, and published by Wadjet Games.[2] The game uses a point and click interface to interact with the environment to solve puzzles and communicate with characters.

Plot

Gemini Rue is an intense adventure set in a bleak future dominated by the corrupt Boryokudan crime syndicate. Players assume the roles of two very different characters: Azriel Odin, an ex-assassin-turned police informant searching for a defector from the Gemini system, and "Delta-Six," a hospital inmate whose memory has been wiped by mysterious, Big Brother types. As fate brings the two men together, players explore a world where life is cheap, identities are bought and sold, and a simple quest for redemption can change an entire galaxy's fate.

Setting

The setting takes place in between the year 2228 and 2229, in a world where mankind has colonized different planets around the galaxy. The story takes place in the Gemini System of the galaxy. Within the Gemini System, there are three different human colonies mentioned in the game, Harmony, Colony 4, and Barracus, the latter where the player begins. Right outside the Gemini System, is a nebula which few ships dare to travel.

In the Gemini System, the Boryokudan crime syndicate has the strongest influence, as they try to push the new drug "Juice". Previously hunted down after the Gemini War, which strained the resources of the larger government, the Boryokudan have become unchallenged and has since gained full control.

Characters

  • Azriel Odin - Boryokudan assassin turned law enforcer, on a mission to rescue his brother from a secret "rehabilitation" facility known only as Center 7
  • Delta Six - Known to his fellow inmates as Charlie, Delta Six has no memory of his past. He is a prisoner and test subject in a, to him, unknown facility run by a faceless voice known only as "the director".
  • Balder - A fellow inmate with Delta Six in Center 7. He seems friendly enough but at the same time a bit suspicious, his motives aren't clear.
  • Kane Harris - A pilot and partner to Azriel Odin. He doesn't quite trust Azriel yet, but he will help him for now.
  • Epsilon Five - A fellow inmate with Delta Six in the Center 7 rehabilitation facility. She seems to know him very well, but he has no memory of her. Can he trust her?
  • Giselle - An inmate on Sector 7. She's determined to make an escape and start a new life.
  • Matthius Howard - Fought in the Gemini War with Azriel Odin and is now on the run from the Boryokudan.
  • Sayuri - A mysterious girl roaming the streets in Barracus. She aids Azriel Odin with his quest.
  • The Director - This nameless person is the one pulling all the strings in Sector 7. He trains the inmates, shapes their minds and surveys the mind wipes.[3]

Reception

The game was well received by game critics, praising the game for its compelling storyline, and its retro graphics.
