Ghost Wars is a paranormal action television series created by Simon Barry, which premiered on Syfy on October 5, 2017,[1][2] with thirteen episodes produced for the first season.[3]
Plot
'Ghost Wars' takes place in a remote Alaskan town that has been overrun by paranormal forces. The series focuses on local outcast Roman Mercer (Avan Jogia) who must overcome the town’s prejudices and his own personal demons if he’s to harness his repressed psychic powers and save everyone from the mass haunting that is threatening to destroy them all.[1]
Cast and characters
Main
- Avan Jogia as Roman Mercer:[4] Roman sees dead people. He is a troubled young loner, plagued by his lifelong ability to communicate with the spirit world, and yearns to be left alone by both the living and the dead. Roman is the real deal.
- Kim Coates as Billy McGrath:[4] Depending on who you ask, Billy is either a charming rogue or scam artist. A former fisherman, he now uses his boat to smuggle contraband into Port Moore.
- Vincent D'Onofrio as Reverend Dan:[4] Reverend Dan was suffering from a crisis of faith long before the ghosts arrived. It’s not his own religious convictions that trouble him, it’s the congregation’s flagging membership. But it turns out ghosts are good for business ...
- Meat Loaf as Doug Rennie:[4] A troubled and angry man. Doug is haunted by the horrors of his past, and Roman is a convenient scapegoat to place all the blame.
- Kandyse McClure as Dr. Landis Barker:[4] A pragmatic young research scientist at the LAMBDA Institute, Landis hails from a small town not unlike Port Moore. This is exactly the kind of place she spent her whole life trying to escape, but the opportunities for advancement override her disdain for small town culture.
- Kristin Lehman as Dr. Marilyn McGrath-Dufresne:[4] Marilyn is the town doctor. Though she and her wife are often on the receiving end of gossip about their age difference, Marilyn’s medical skills are well-respected by the town’s population.
Recurring
- Elise Gatien as Maggie Rennie:[5][6] Roman’s ghostly friend
