Grace Victoria Phipps (born May 4, 1992)[2] is an American actress,singer and dancer. She was cast as April Young in The Vampire Diaries. She appeared in ten episodes in season four, one of which was a voice performance. In 2013, she starred in the Disney Channel Original Movie Teen Beach Movie along with Ross Lynch and Maia Mitchell and has recently starred in Teen Beach 2.

Early life

Phipps was born in Austin, Texas, raised in Boerne, Texas and San Antonio, Texas, where she graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, and The North East School of the Arts, majoring in Musical Theatre.[3]

Career

Acting

Following her 2010 high school graduation, Phipps moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting and immediately landed the role as Bee in the remake Fright Night, as well as originating the role of Amy in the ABC Family series The Nine Lives of Chloe King.[4] The series was cancelled after one season.[5]

In 2012, Phipps was cast as April Young, a recurring character in the CW's The Vampire Diaries[6] and appeared in ten episodes of the fourth season. It was later confirmed that she would return for another season.[7]

In 2013, Phipps appeared as Lela in the Disney Channel Original Movie Teen Beach Movie along with Ross Lynch and Maia Mitchell. Phipps had a number of featured solos, including the song "Falling for Ya".[8] Phipps was announced to appear in Austin & Ally episode "Directors & Divas" as Brandy Braxton. Phipps reprised her role as Lela in a sequel, Teen Beach 2,, along with Ross Lynch, Maia Mitchell, Garrett Clayton and John DeLuca who reprised their roles in the sequel.

In 2015, Phipps starred in the horror movie Dark Summer. She played the part of Mona.

Music

The Teen Beach Movie soundtrack was released featuring songs performed by Phipps including her as a main artist in the song "Falling for Ya," and featured in the songs "Cruisin' for a Bruisin'," "Like Me," "Meant to Be," and "Coolest Cats in Town." In 2014, Phipps appeared in the Austin & Ally episode "Directors & Divas" and performed "The Pilot and the Mermaid" with Ross Lynch.
