The team was founded as a National Premier Soccer League expansion in 2013. They were part of the Gulf Coast Texans club, which also included a team in the Women's Premier Soccer League and youth teams. In 2013, the team announced it would end its partnership with the Texans and adopt a new name, Pensacola City FC.
The team announced on May 29, 2014 they were folding and would not complete the 2014 NPSL season.
When the team folded, it caused controversy among players, and the team's owner. The team's owner claimed that players showed up hungover and did not put in any effort during training sessions. Players, however, say these statements were untrue. These players claim that they were removed from apartments, not properly trained, and room and board was not covered as per usual in NPSL. Additionally coaches from other NPSL teams in Pensacola's division stated incredible displeasure with the events referring to the mid-season closing as "Irresponsible. Unprofessional. Embarrassing...".
