Yellin was elected head of the Eshkol Regional Council in 2007. The area, which borders the Gaza Strip, was heavily attacked by rockets during the 2014 Israel-Gaza conflict. Yellin expressed his skepticism and frustration at the government's plans for cease-fire during this time.[2] He was placed seventh on the Yesh Atid list for the 2015 Knesset elections, and was elected to the Knesset when the party won 11 seats. After being elected, he had to give up his Argentine citizenship.[3]
