Hasso von Wedel (20 November 1898 – 3 January 1961)[1] was a German Generalmajor and Commander of the Wehrmacht Propaganda Troops during the Second World War. He was directly subordinate to the head of OKW Operations Staff (Wehrmachtführungsstab, WFSt.), General Alfred Jodl. Von Wedel's Propaganda Department had to control over the growing number of new propaganda units and served to mediate between them and the Reich Propaganda Ministry of Joseph Goebbels.[2] After capitulation of the Nazi Germany, Hasso von Wedel was taken prisoner by the US troops on 6 May 1945 and released on 18 May 1946. Von Wedel described his experience on war propaganda in a manuscript between 1957 and 1958, published after his death under the title Die Propagandatruppen der Deutschen Wehrmacht. (Propaganda troops of the Wermacht).
