Hawthorne Scholastic Academy is a K-8 public school in Chicago, Illinois. The school is known to be ranked highly in the city of Chicago and in the state of Illinois. Hawthorne is a literature and writing magnet school, and all students are accepted through the Chicago Public Schools magnet lottery.

In Comparison

Hawthorne is ranked highly in comparison to other district schools and schools throughout the state of Illinois. The current principal, Nathan Pietrini, came to Hawthorne in July 2012. After the release of ISAT scores for the 2012-2013 school year, Hawthorne ranked number one among Chicago Public Schools non-selective enrollment schools.

The athletics program at Hawthorne has been highly successful, with many city championships. Two city championships were won by girls athletics teams in the 2012-2013 school year.
