Hero High was a cartoon and live action series created by Filmation that aired as part of NBC's The Kid Super Power Hour with Shazam! It was about a high school where young superheroes were taught how to use their powers and fight crime.[1] Originally intended to be a new entry in Filmation's long-running line of Archie cartoon series, the 1981 series was altered at the last minute because the company's rights to the Archie characters had expired and new characters had to be created.[2]

In addition, two DC Comics-owned characters also appeared in the series: Captain Marvel and Mary Marvel, who were both parts of the parent series Kid Super Power Hour. Filmation's own Isis (later reinvented in 2006 by DC as their own character) had debuted in the live-action The Secrets of Isis, which was part of The Shazam!/Isis Hour with Captain Marvel in the mid-1970s. Isis had previously appeared in Filmation's The Freedom Force segment of Tarzan And The Super 7 as well.
